Alto 800 hits Nepali roads

Alto, the best selling car from the Maruti Suzuki stable, has entered the Nepali market in an all new form. CG Automobiles -- the authorized distributor of Maruti Suzuki in Nepal -- unveiled Alto 800 in the Nepali market on Thursday.

According to a press statement issued by the company, the hatchback comes in three variants --Alto 800 (Standard), Alto 800 LX (Alto AC) and Alto 800 LXI.

The New Alto 800 sports a fresh look, is roomier, and is over 15 percent more fuel efficient than the outgoing model and is even better ´geared´ for city conditions, said the statement.

"Alto 800 offers mileage of 22.74 km per liter and this has been possible with focused efforts in engine engineering," the statement said, adding: "With a refined engine, Alto 800 delivers a torque of 69 Nm at 3,500 rpm and maximum output of 48 PS at 6,000 rpm which is better than its predecessor."

The Alto 800 has various features like 3-spoke steering wheel, enhanced seat fabric and design, 15 mm higher roof, full wheel cover, body colored bumper, can holder, remote tail gate opener, coin holder, front power windows, digital clock integrated speedometer and internally adjustable Outside Rear View Mirrors (ORVM), among others.

CG Automobiles targets to sell 600 cars by the end of the current fiscal year. It is providing the car on installment basis at 10 percent interest rate. Customers, however, will need to make 20 percent downpayment. The company has tied up with NIC, Bank of Asia, Standard Chartered Bank and Sanima Bank to provide finance facilities to Alto 800 customers.

The car is available in six colors -- frost blue, granite grey, superior white, blazing red, silky silver and torque blue. Customers can also choose the colors of their interior which is available in brown and grey. The company offers a three-year free service and a one-year warranty on the car.

The Alto Standard is available at Rs 1.34 million, while the Alto LX and the Alto LXI are available at Rs 1.49 million and Rs 1.62 million, respectively.
